IHG’s first net zero carbon hotel, voco Zeal Exeter, is a trailblazing, fully electric venue that surpasses the 2050 net zero targets by generating more solar energy annually than it consumes. It incorporates energy-efficient systems, such as a Passivhaus-style design and adiabatic cooling. Sustainability is woven into every aspect, from its construction with low-carbon materials like GGBS concrete to its interiors featuring plant-based mattresses, recyclable furnishings, bio-based paints, and water-saving fixtures. The hotel emphasises sustainability throughout its entire lifecycle.
Additionally, the onsite ISCA restaurant celebrates local and seasonal produce, including English wines and farm-fresh meats, while supporting the local economy by hiring locally and collaborating with nearby suppliers for furniture and materials.
Conveniently located just a mile from Exeter Airport near the M5 and A30, the hotel merges comfort with sustainability. The building is designed to be filled with natural light and greenery, promoting clean air and reducing the need for artificial lighting. The hotel boasts 142 stylish bedrooms, featuring cosy bedding made from 100% recycled materials, Chromecast TVs for streaming, and bathrooms equipped with refillable amenities and water-saving showerheads.
